CELEBRATING THE LIFE AND TIMES OF A TRUE LEADER, ICON, HERO AND BELIEVER IN A GREAT AND PROSPEROUS NIGERIA

CHIEF ANTHONY EROMOSELE ENAHORO

(1923 – 2010)

On the 15th December 2010, light dimmed on the political landscape of our dear country. In the early hours of that day, Chief Anthony Eromosele Enahoro – politician, journalist, thinker, mentor, a rare breed amongst political leaders and prodemocracy activist, bade us farewell and went home to be with his Maker.

His foresight, courage and forcefulness propelled him into the national consciousness when he moved the motion for self rule from the British in 1953. That singular action provided the impetus that was needed to set the ball rolling for Nigeria eventual political independence in 1960.

Chief Enahoro has been a pillar and light in the people’s continued search for that Holy Grail of political emancipation from our internal tormentors. A man of uncommon vision, passion, humility and selflessness, he shunned the temptation to enrich himself as the practice is amongst Nigeria’s political leaders. He gave himself totally to the search for Nigeria’s greatness. Day and night he parleyed, reasoned, wrote and sought to persuade the powers that be, to give the Nigerian people the right to decide their future and decide how they wished to be governed and live together.

For us who had the privilege of working with him over years, yes, we mourn the passage of a great man, but we remember him like a father, a true mentor and leader.

We are therefore, by this project, celebrating the life and times of the great one and making a proclamation of our public stand to continue with the call of duty, the way he helped us see it i.e. the dream of a democratised, truly great Nigeria – a country where the best will be given the space to flourish and the weak protected; where the philosophy of “equitocracy” as an emblem of national recognition will signpost our nation’s moral code.

We celebrate you great one!!!

We mourn with Mama Helen Enahoro and the children Kenneth, Bella, Eugene, Victor and Gabriel. We pray God to give you the strength and grace you need at this time.

Rest in perfect peace Papa.

Dr Philip Idaewor,

Chairman MNR Europe and pioneer chairman PRONACO Europe.
